1. Letter A Sounds
- Like in cat (a small pet)
- Like in cake (sweet food)
- Like in car (a vehicle)
2. Letter B Sound
- Like in book (something you read)
- Like in boy (a male child)
3. Letter C Sounds
C sounds like “s” before e, i, or y. Otherwise, it sounds like “k”.
- pencil (writing tool) – sounds like “s”
- cat (pet animal) – sounds like “k”
- cold (not warm) – sounds like “k”
4. Letter D Sound
- dog (friendly pet)
- drink (to have water or juice)

5. Letter E Sounds
- Like in pen (writing tool)
